Amazon Listing Optimization Checklist for 2026
A field-tested checklist for titles, bullets, A+ Content, backend keywords, and images that actually move the needle in 2026.
Most Amazon listings leave money on the table — not because sellers are lazy, but because the platform changes faster than playbooks do. Here is the exact checklist our VAs run through on every listing audit in 2026.
1. Title (the highest-leverage 200 characters on the internet)
Your title controls click-through rate AND keyword indexing. Get it wrong and nothing else matters.
- Lead with the brand, then the most-searched root keyword
- Keep it under 200 characters — Amazon truncates more aggressively on mobile
- Include the most important variant attribute (size, count, color)
- No ALL CAPS, no promotional language ("Best!", "Sale!"), no emojis
- One pipe separator at most — readability beats keyword stuffing
2. Bullets that sell, not just describe
Each bullet should answer one buyer objection or highlight one outcome.
- Start with a benefit in bold, then 1–2 sentences of proof
- Address the top 3 negative review themes from your category
- Bullet 5 should always be your guarantee, warranty, or support promise
3. A+ Content / Brand Story
If you are brand registered and not using A+, you are giving away conversion rate.
- Use the comparison module — it lifts AOV by capturing cross-sells
- Add at least one lifestyle "scene" image, not just product on white
- Include a brand story module to build trust with first-time buyers
4. Backend keywords
- Use all 250 bytes — but no duplicates of words already in your title or bullets
- Include common misspellings, Spanish translations, and use-case phrases
- Never put competitor brand names (it's a TOS violation and Amazon strips them)
5. Images (the real conversion driver)
- Main image: pure white background, product fills 85%+ of the frame
- Image 2: infographic with key specs and dimensions
- Images 3–5: lifestyle shots showing the product in use
- Image 6: comparison chart vs your other variants
- Image 7: video — listings with video convert 80% better in 2026
How long does this take?
A full optimization pass on one listing takes a trained VA about 4–6 hours including keyword research. Multiply that across a 50-SKU catalog and you understand why most sellers never finish — and why this is one of the highest-ROI tasks to delegate.
