Amazon PPC ACoS Benchmarks: What's Actually Good in 2026?

Real ACoS and TACoS targets by category, plus the 4 levers that move ACoS the fastest without killing volume.

February 10, 20266 min read

Every seller asks "is my ACoS good?" — and the honest answer is "it depends on your margin, your stage, and your category." Here are the 2026 benchmarks our team uses.

ACoS benchmarks by category (mature listings)

  • Consumer electronics: 18–28%
  • Home & kitchen: 22–32%
  • Health & personal care: 25–35%
  • Beauty: 28–38%
  • Apparel: 30–40%
  • Supplements: 35–45%

These are mature-listing targets. New launches should expect 50–100% ACoS for the first 60–90 days while you buy ranking.

TACoS — the metric that actually matters

TACoS (Total ACoS = ad spend / total revenue) tells you whether ads are growing your organic business or just renting sales.

  • Healthy: 8–15%
  • Heavy growth mode: 15–25%
  • Defending top rank: 5–10%

If your TACoS is dropping while revenue grows, your ads are working — they're driving organic rank. If TACoS is flat and ad spend is rising, you're stuck in a paid-traffic loop.

The 4 levers that actually move ACoS

1. Negative keywords (weekly)

Most sellers add negatives once a quarter. Doing it weekly is the single biggest ACoS lever — typically cuts wasted spend 15–25% within a month.

2. Search-term harvesting

Move converting search terms from auto/broad campaigns into exact-match campaigns with higher bids. This concentrates spend where it's already working.

3. Bid adjustments by placement

Top-of-search placement converts 2–3x better than rest-of-search. Use placement bid modifiers to push spend where it earns.

4. Day-parting

If your category converts mainly evenings and weekends, pause ads during low-conversion morning hours. Easy 10–20% ACoS improvement.

Why this is hard to do alone

Each of these levers requires weekly attention across every campaign. For sellers running 20+ campaigns, that's 8–10 hours a week of focused optimization work — exactly the kind of repetitive, high-skill task that a trained PPC VA handles for a fraction of what it costs you in time.
